England Netball clarify position on High 5 Netball

Dear Members, Staff and other England Netball Associates,

We would like to clarify the position of England Netball with regard to the playing of netball by under 11's.

EN remains totally committed to High 5 Netball as the recommended form of the game for this age group, and believes strongly that is the appropriate form of the game that should be encouraged and developed by coaches and schools. This is for clearly researched player developmental reasons and is supported by Long Term Athlete Development principles, and is consistent with similar approaches in other team sports.

That notwithstanding, we do recognise that for some people it is impossible to provide this form of the game at this time. For this reason, and to ensure our duty of care and safety responsibilities are delivered, England Netball is prepared to recognise that full 7 a side netball is sometimes played by this age group and these players ARE covered by EN insurance.

To be clear, EN strongly endorses High 5 Netball as the correct route for this age group, and all clubs / schools are expected to be working to achieve this end.

Should you have any questions on this subject, please contact Membership Services Manager at England Netball
