Hi,
Just a few
lines by way of an introduction about my Role as Welfare Officer for
Cheshire Netball.
Without
putting anybody off at the outset, I have worked for Greater
Manchester Police for a number of years and currently have
responsibility for Safeguarding issues across Greater Manchester; so
have experience of youth and child Protection. However I don’t
profess to have all the answers, so will work with you to resolve
issues that you may have or any problems that arise. I can also act
as a link to the NW and EN welfare officers.
We all have a
duty to protect and safeguard children to create a safe environment
for our children to enjoy their netball. Their safety and welfare
is paramount.
I will
maintain an up to date register of all those county volunteers who
require CRB checks and also arrange for their renewals. CRB checks
are important to ensure the continued safety of our young people.
In addition to
safeguarding, it is also important that we respect others. Social
Networking Sites are now the norm for young people, and we cannot
think that clubs across Cheshire Netball will be immune from rumours
and innuendos that might appear in one form or another.
As Welfare
Officer I will endeavour to support you with any issues, but it is
important that everyone, including players, take personal
responsibility for their own actions.
I look forward
to working with you and please fell free to contact me if you have
any concerns regarding welfare matters.
I have also
attached a link to the EN website where you can find a copy of the
EN Safeguarding Policy, a flow chart outlining how concerns are
addressed and an incident reporting form.
