Cheshire County Chair - Netball Update
Dear Cheshire Players, Parents, Officials, Coaches, Leagues and Supporters
We hope you all have a happy easter and that you and your families are safe and well. For those on the frontline, including our very own S&C coach Matt Heaton who is a Pharmacist and coach Nikki Kendrick (and her family who work in medicine / are doctors), keeping services and supplies flowing or caring for vulnerable people in our society, a very heartfelt thank you.
Here are some headlines for netball in the county and the committee’s work which is continuing at home:
1. Academies – no training or match play but coaches are liaising with age groups and providing at home training and challenges. We are planning future training to finish off the season and have provisional plans for next season, awaiting government guidelines. And we are planning a summer get together to finish the year.
2. CJNL – the team are reviewing options, looking at guidance from EN and putting several plans together – all of course lock down dependant.
3. Cheshire Elite league – currently suspended. We would like to play out the league once allowed to do so.
4. Officiating – with new minor rules coming in, we wanted to take to opportunity to have 3 rules forums around the county in July / August – a chance for coaches, players and umpires alike to recap in existing and new rules, discuss the game and communicate across the difference areas of the game. Also to get a free rule book (supported by the county).
5. Committee – we are having weekly short meetings on Zoom to catch up, support and review and discuss issues and looking a possible plans ahead.
6. Many of our committee members are also active in the Regional Management Board who are also actively working behind the scenes and meeting regularly on line.
7. Goalden Globes – nominations are in even if celebrations are delayed. Good luck to those nominated: Kate Scott, Lindsay Huddart, Clare McEnery, Emma Gottgens, Sophie Thompson, Holly Grainger – all from Boughton Belles. Claire Morris from Ladyhawks Chris McCall from Cheshire County Committee Emma Jones from Abbeygate College Lydia Patterson, Jessica Brocklebank from Northwich Sapphires Lauren Palmer from Kingsway Power Carolyn Pilat Gillibrand from Appleton Northwich Netball Club and Boughton Belles Netball Club www.cheshirenetball.co.uk Page 2 of 2
8. Leagues – you should have all received EN’s guidelines for leagues that aren’t fulfilled. If you haven’t, check out the England Netball Website.
9. At netball home training – check out Cheshire’s Facebook page – we daily share home netball training from around the world – enjoy.
10. Keep the ball moving – there has been some great videos put together by clubs in the county – even the Cheshire Academy Coaches have put one together. Lets see yours! Along with your club challenges, training sessions (anyone time-lapsed 100 shots yet)?
We hope you are all staying home during this challenging time where you can. If you are working, thank you and stay safe.If you have any queries or concerns, please contact me via the contact us page on the website.
