2012 U14 and U16 TRIALS – REGISTRATIONS NOW CLOSED

Important additional information for Cheshire U14 and U16 pre-trialists – 26th and 27th May 2012

We hope that the following information will answer most of your questions about the U14 and U16 pre-trials taking place at the end of May.

1. We have a large number of athletes who have registered for the pre-trials in both U14 and U16 age groups. Everyone will trial at least twice - in their first choice position and then either their 2nd or 3rd choice position. If an athlete has chosen a less ‘popular’ position to trial in, it is likely that they will be asked to play on more than 2 occasions to make up full teams. Typically these will be athletes playing in GS/GK or maybe GD positions.
2. On arrival at the venue, athletes must check-in at the registration desk and pay their £5 trial registration fee. We will not be collecting any other monies for training deposits or kit (or taking orders for kit) on the day.
3. It is advisable for athletes to bring some items of first aid with them – plasters and insect bite cream seem to be the most frequently requested from previous experience !
4. Remember that all jewelry must be removed before playing, including ear-rings, necklaces, friendship bracelets, hair clips etc
5. A schedule of teams and games will be assembled prior to the trial and athletes cannot change their choice of position on the day. We will post this information around the venue so athletes can see when they are playing, and in which position and team. Each athlete is responsible for making sure that they arrive on the right court at the right time ready to trial.
6. We will be running 3 courts consecutively at Wilmslow High School for the U14’s and 2 courts consecutively at Woodford Lodge for the U16’s. Parents/teachers/coaches/spectators will not be allowed into the court area during the games as the selectors need to move freely between courts to assess athletes.
7. Because of the large numbers of trialists we need to accommodate, it will be necessary for athletes to wait for some time between rounds. Please make provisions for the weather, as we will be outside, and bring warm clothing/waterproofs/suncream etc and plenty of drinks and food with you as this may not be available at the venue.
8. The outcome of the pre-trials is selection for the Cheshire Netball final trials on Sat 8th Sept where athletes will be placed into the County and Satellite squads. A list of successful pre-trialists will be posted on the Cheshire Netball website during w/c 28th May
9. Note for U14 pre-trialists – Remember that parking at Wilmslow High School is no longer free and you will need a £1 coin to enter through the barrier into the car park

If you have any queries, please contact Cheshire Netball Trials Manager Fiona Rose at the above email address or mobile on 07971 458348.
